This CD is based on the live recording of Shiniti Ueno & Yuji Takahashi Duo Recital(2008,Tokyo).All the pieces included were composed by Takahashi,three of which were the world premieres.It well communicates the interaction and the tension created by the percussion and the piano,and reveals another aspect of Takahashi as a virtuoso pianist/composer,as well as of the multi-percussion music.The quality of recording and editing is very good as well.
1."The Wolf" The percussion solo masterpiece,inspired by the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam.
2,3."Lullaby a/b" This two-part piece was originally composed for marimba,but here it is performed by Takahashi as a piano solo.
4-13."bachiana afroasiatica" This homage to Bach consists of 10 short pieces.Piano solo.
14,15."Bàttiti Bachiani" Piano & Percussion,world premiere
16. "Coyote Melody" This percussion solo music was inspired by a Nez Perce poem. World premiere.
17-21."flower world" This percussion and piano duo piece was inspired by a Yaki poem. World premiere.
