The floating shakuhachi sound drifting through space, the vibrating djembe felt through the ground and the electronic music colouring the clouds. HuguinuWa harmonises ambient music of the twenty-first century with the psychedelic and tribal sounds of the late 1960's.
HuguinuWa is a duo comprising of two Japanese musicians, Suginuma (shakuhachi) and Fujikawa (djembe) who met seven years ago. Both performers felt musical freedom and the ability to cross musical borders when playing together and thus formed HuguinuWa in 2010. The ensemble held concerts in Tokyo but then moved to Berlin due to the city's vibrant live music culture.
So, is HuguinuWa's music improvisation, psychedelic or ambient? You decide!
